What equipment do I need for Medical School?

What equipment do I need for Medical School?

From speaking to people who have gone through the journey and searching on the net, we have determined that the most common equipment a medical student needs is;

  • A good quality stethoscope
  • Blood pressure monitor (either a sphygmomanometer or a digital blood pressure monitor)
  • Ophthalamoscope
  • Otoscope
  • Digital ear thermometer
  • Reflex hammer
  • Oximeter

But the questions is do I really need all this equipment?

Having established what is on the ideal wish list the reality, from speaking to those in the know, is that (excluding the stethoscope) most of this equipment is not necessary or will be used only occasionally.

So what is the point I hear you ask?

The thing is, a number of medical schools require new students to have all this equipment at the start. They will also have a “recommended supplier” who may or may not have a commercial arrange with the institution. Often these kits are very expensive. Being a supplier ourselves we know the margin these guys are making on these kits…..and it is huge!

But we too have been students at University with limited resources. So we can appreciate that buying high price equipment that either won’t be used or used infrequently is a tough call.

We offer an alternative…..

Quality diagnostic equipment at a reasonable price.

Show your lecturers that you are committed by having the right equipment without killing the budget and having to live on baked beans for the rest of the semester.

If you use all the pieces, then that’s great. If not then you haven’t blown a lot of your savings! Maybe you want some pieces but not all? Get in contact and we can customise a bundle to meet your needs.

If your school, doesn’t require you to have a load of equipment, then we suggest you save your money and buy a top quality stethoscope. Maybe a Littmann Cardiology III? There are plenty of options online to buy a Littman stethoscope.

One day we hope to be grown up enough for 3M to allow us to sell Littmann stethoscopes on our site……stay tune. In the mean time we offer a cheaper but still good quality alternative Cardiology stethoscope. More than adequate for routine examinations (unless you want to be a top flight cardiologist) but at an attractive price

Anyway we are here to help so reach out if we can help you with any questions (only on medical equipment though, can't help you with exam questions).

In the meantime good luck with the studies and enjoy the experience.
